IBM and Salesforce form strategic partnership to advance AI technology

IBM and Salesforce have announced a new partnership focused on advancing the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and data integration through their respective platforms, watsonx and Einstein 1. This collaboration aims to provide customers with more options for implementing AI and data solutions, ultimately supporting data-driven decision making.

The partnership includes bidirectional data integration, the ability to leverage large language models (LLMs), and a dedication to the responsible development of AI technologies. Salesforce will integrate its Bring Your Own Large Language Model strategy with IBM’s watsonx platform and Salesforce’s Einstein 1 Studio, providing access to IBM’s Granite series AI models known for their performance and compliance capabilities.

IBM’s watsonx platform allows companies to create and manage custom AI models, including a range of LLMs with customized data. The integration of IBM’s Granite models with the Einstein 1 platform will allow customers to utilize these models for various applications, whether in the cloud or locally.

The Einstein 1 platform combines CRM applications, external data sources, and AI models to power next-generation AI solutions, such as the conversational AI assistant Einstein Copilot for CRM. Ritika Gunnar, IBM’s general manager of product management for data and AI, highlighted the importance of selecting the right foundational models to enhance AI strategies and simplify the generative AI landscape.

In addition to AI model integration, IBM Consulting will provide industry-specific AI cues and actions for sectors like automotive, energy, financial services, and public services. These templates will be available through Einstein 1 Studio, enabling advanced CRM applications for various industries.

IBM’s inclusion in the Salesforce Zero Copy Partner Network allows for secure, two-way data integration between watsonx and Salesforce Data Cloud without copying data, minimizing security risks and simplifying data management. Salesforce’s Executive Vice President, Rahul Auradkar, is optimistic about the partnership’s potential to maximize data utilization and promote customer engagement and trustworthy AI.

Lastly, Salesforce has joined the AI Alliance, a global consortium promoting the ethical and transparent development of AI technologies. This partnership between IBM and Salesforce aims to provide customers with more options for implementing AI and data solutions, ultimately supporting data-driven decision making and advancing the responsible development of AI technologies.
