IBM and Microsoft ink Memorandums of Understanding with Gujarat government to boost AI capabilities

The Gujarat government signed MoUs with IBM, Microsoft, and NASSCOM to promote the use of Artificial Intelligence technologies in the state. The agreements were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who emphasized the importance of futuristic technologies like AI for the state’s development. IBM and the Department of Science and Technology will establish an AI Cluster in GIFT City, focusing on innovation and collaboration among financial institutions. Microsoft and the Department of Science and Technology will set up an AI Center of Excellence in GIFT City, concentrating on machine learning and bot services. NASSCOM will also work with the state to enhance AI capabilities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for India as the world’s third-largest economy prioritizes advanced technologies. Gujarat aims to be a global gateway to the future by promoting AI and other emerging industries. The state government has launched the Up Skilling Industry Ready Talent Program to meet the demand for skilled manpower in sectors leveraging advanced technologies. IBM sees AI as a critical need and will support AI software development for fintech companies in GIFT City, as well as collaborate in AI curriculum development for schools and universities.

The program has invited universities and course providers to train young people in deep technology. Industry leaders like IBM, Nvidia, AWS, TCS, and L&T Edutech will offer courses under this initiative, with four state universities serving as aggregators. Gujarat plans to train 25,000 students in deep technology courses over the next three years through these collaborations. The state aims to position itself as a leader in technology-driven industries through these efforts.
