Some social media users in the Netherlands said they couldn’t stand it, which is why McDonald’s has pulled an advert generated entirely by artificial intelligence.
The 45-second video, titled “The Most Horrifying Time of the Year,” was posted on the fast food giant’s nationwide YouTube channel on Saturday.
While a reworked version of the Andy Williams song “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” plays in the background, a series of mishaps occur at Christmas.
Presents are thrown from the roof of a car over a low bridge, Christmas carols have their notes blown out, and even Santa’s sleigh gets stuck in traffic.
Other scenes show a man breaking his bones because he slips while ice skating, a woman being dragged away by a tram because her coat gets caught in the door, and a man hanging by his feet after trying to put up Christmas lights on his house.
Customers are then advised to escape the festive “madness” and “hide out at McDonald’s until January…”
