I asked Gemini to order dinner, but Google’s keeping that feature for itself

I asked Gemini to order me a chicken burger. A simple request, exactly the kind of thing that agentic AI is supposed to exist for.

Gemini’s response was kind of rude, or maybe I was just hungry. It told me it can’t place orders directly for me and that I would have to use a food delivery app like Foodpanda, or the delivery app of my choice.

No attempt, no app opened, just the same uneven feature rollout Android’s always been known for. Gemini pointed me to the manual app grid I was trying to avoid.

I tried naming the app next, requesting it order me a chicken burger from Foodpanda. Everything was installed and set up on my phone.

I got the same fallback message, word for word.

What actually happened, twice

The same flat refusal, no matter how I asked
