I asked ChatGPT if an AI bubble was about to trigger a stock market crash and it said…

Stock market crashes are notoriously difficult to predict. So I tried asking the latest version of ChatGPT if I should be worried about a bubble in artificial intelligence (AI) stocks.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, says GPT-5 is meant to be like speaking to a PhD-level expert. But the answer I received was similar to what I would expect from freshmen.

What ChatGPT said

ChatGPT simply gave me a list of potential AI risks, including weak returns and stricter regulations. But in terms of a crash, it just said that the threat exists “sensible” – whatever that means.

That wasn’t much help. But it helped me assess the likelihood of various scenarios – including a slight correction, a moderate decline and a severe crash – which sounded better.
