The news: HSBC has partnered with French AI startup Mistral to integrate generative AI tools across the bank to accelerate automation, improve productivity and improve customer service.
The context: HSBC said in a press release on Monday that as part of the multi-year partnership, the bank and Mistral’s applied AI, science and engineering teams will work together to develop generative AI solutions across the company.
The bank said it will deliver Mistral’s commercial models and future upgrades through self-hosted AI models running on HSBC’s internal technology systems.
The companies plan to jointly develop AI solutions for tasks ranging from financial analysis and language translation to risk assessments and tailored customer communications.
HSBC’s future areas of focus include customer-focused innovations, including improvements to lending and lending processes, improving customer onboarding, and fraud and anti-money laundering controls.
