In Hewlett Packard Company (HPE), the finance function is becoming the testing ground for enterprise AI.

The HPE financial organization (No. 143 in Fortune 500) used to revolve around a weekly ritual: a 90-minute operational performance review on Mondays, fueled by more than 100 pages of PowerPoint and hundreds of hours of manual preparation across the company.

That call was the “heartbeat of the company” and finance was the “secondary driver” orchestrating each data point, said Marie Myers, executive vice president and chief financial officer at HPE. Fortune.

But the effort required to assemble the platform left little room to shift the conversation from what happened to what the company should do next. Solving this is one example of what drove Myers and his team to embark on a financial transformation in 2025.
