The age of AI is here and it will be infinitely useful, or so they tell us.
For many of us, it’s most obvious when we see videos of fake lions in unusual places, unsolicited summaries at the top of browser searches, or any amount of nonsense dominating our social media feeds.
As a wordsmith, it’s the latter that offends me the most.
My Facebook feed has long been the domain of algorithmic tripe rather than posts from people I know, but lately it’s become the home of terrible computer-constructed prose.
For example, if you’re a music lover, your feed might contain posts about bands you listen to – a great insight into their history that’s about as accurate as a fortune cookie prediction.
