Agoda’s 2025 AI Developer Report shows that AI has become a mainstream tool for developers in Southeast Asia and India, enabling real productivity gains while raising new questions about reliability, skills and organizational readiness.
The report finds that AI adoption is nearly universal: 95% of developers in Southeast Asia and India use AI tools weekly, and more than half keep an AI assistant on hand during their work. Developers report significant speed improvements, but describe the impact as steady, incremental gains rather than dramatic automation of their tasks.
Despite high usage, developers pragmatically rely on AI. Productivity is the main factor: 80% cite speed and help with routine coding tasks as key benefits, but most still see AI as an assistant to be supervised rather than an autonomous actor. Agoda summarizes this as: “AI is mainstream but not yet mature,” with workflows and security still keeping up with the tools.
