Satellite images that appear to have been created or altered using AI were shared widely on social media over the weekend, highlighting the dangers of technology as a potential vehicle for wartime misinformation.
A picture circulated on X – including in a post from the official account of the Iranian newspaper The Tehran Times – shows a satellite image that purports to show damage to an American radar system in Qatar following an Iranian drone attack.
