Misinformation and disinformation online could have a serious impact on this year’s elections, politicians and experts warn.

Fake council posts have been widely shared in recent months – one content creator even refused to remove them because he was “making money from them”, according to a local authority.

As AI makes misinformation easier to create and harder to detect, BBC Yorkshire political editor James Vincent examines the potential threat to democracy.
