Houston Geothermal Company Expands Google Partnership to Offer Power in Nevada

Houston-based Fervo Energy is set to provide geothermal energy to power Google’s two data centers in Nevada through a partnership with Las Vegas-based utility NV Energy. The 115 megawatts of geothermal energy generated by Fervo will supply Google’s data centers, which cost $600 million each to build. This deal, if approved by utility regulators, will significantly increase the amount of clean power available to Google’s facilities in Nevada. NV Energy and Google have already collaborated on a geothermal energy pilot project in the state, and this new proposal represents a major step towards achieving cleaner energy goals in the region. The innovative nature of this partnership has the potential to serve as a model for other utilities and large customers looking to transition to more sustainable energy sources.
