Hitachi Construction Machinery has chosen Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to migrate its core enterprise systems for various business functions to the public cloud. By leveraging Oracle Cloud VMware Solution and Oracle Exadata Database Service, Hitachi Construction Machinery achieved a rapid and reliable migration with minimal application and database changes from its previous on-premises environments. This move is part of the company’s digital transformation initiative to consolidate data from mission-critical construction systems and equipment and prepare for future AI implementation.

The decision to migrate to OCI was driven by the platform’s secure migration capabilities and the ability to maintain business continuity without the need for extensive application modifications. As a result, Hitachi Construction Machinery has seen a 20 percent reduction in infrastructure operating costs, along with significant performance improvements in both online transaction processing and batch processing across multiple core business systems.

With Oracle Cloud VMware Solution and Oracle Exadata Database Service, Hitachi Construction Machinery is migrating approximately 500 virtual servers and 100 databases to OCI. This migration will enable the company to benefit from enhanced architecture, automation, performance, data security, and cost optimization. Additionally, Hitachi Construction Machinery is implementing a new disaster recovery environment using Oracle Cloud regions in Tokyo and Osaka to enhance business continuity.

The use of Oracle Cloud services has allowed Hitachi Construction Machinery to focus on new projects to strengthen its business competitiveness, as the IT department no longer needs to spend significant time on operational and management tasks. Looking ahead, the company plans to modernize applications to run natively on OCI and migrate remaining databases from on-premises environments. By consolidating its business data on OCI, Hitachi Construction Machinery aims to leverage AI and multicloud capabilities for future growth and innovation.

Oracle offers integrated application suites and a secure, autonomous infrastructure in Oracle Cloud. As Hitachi Construction Machinery continues its digital transformation journey with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, the company is poised to capture the economic benefits of the cloud, meet high-performance customer and employee expectations, and accelerate its overall business transformation.
