A recent high school graduate from Jackson-Reed High School in DC won this year’s national Doodle for Google contest out of tens of thousands of entries. Maisie Derlega’s winning artwork features an aerial view of a table filled with food, plates, and flowers, cleverly spelling out “Google” in the center. Her piece was inspired by her family’s love of Sunday dinners and her hopes for the next 25 years. Maisie’s artwork is now featured on the Google home page nationwide. As part of her prize, she will receive a $55,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 technology package for her school.
