MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) – Depending on where you live, the toilet water you flush could help cool a new Madison County data center.
Amazon Web Services is partnering with Veolia to use treated wastewater to cool the multibillion-dollar facility at the Mega Site near Canton.
Chris Low, executive vice president of Veolia’s Water Technologies Division in North America, said the new treatment facility should come online in 2027.
Once that happens, it will provide some 83 million gallons of treated wastewater for use solely at the facility.
“A lot of local communities are concerned on what the impact might be to their water security,” he said. “Veolia is working with these partners, like we’re doing with AWS in Mississippi, that developments have little or no impact on the local water infrastructure.”
AWS is investing at least $21 billion in data centers in Madison County.
That includes the project at the Mega Site, as well as another data center hub along West County Line…
