HCLTech, a global technology company, has announced plans to enhance its presence in the telecommunications services market by expanding its partnership with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). This expansion includes the transfer of assets from HPE’s Communications Technology Group (CTG) to HCLTech, which will involve acquiring intellectual property, R&D, engineering talent, and customer relationships with leading global communications service providers (CSPs).

Through this agreement, HCLTech will gain access to a portfolio of service offerings in areas such as business support systems, network applications, service cloud, and data intelligence. These capabilities will complement HCLTech’s existing services in artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, and data-driven models, leading to greater efficiency, seamless integration, and an enhanced partner ecosystem.

HPE will retain the operations support systems portion of its CTG business, which includes OSS, orchestration, assurance, public 5G SDM, and 5G private networks services. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close within 6 to 9 months.

C Vijayakumar, CEO of HCLTech, highlighted the strategic importance of this partnership in addressing the evolving global telecommunications market. The acquisition of top engineering talent and industry-leading intellectual property from HPE’s CTG Group will enable HCLTech to strengthen its relationships with global CSPs and accelerate its growth strategy in the telecommunications sector.

Antonio Neri, President and CEO of HPE, expressed confidence in aligning with HCLTech to support the transformation of telecommunications, media, and technology companies. He emphasized the value of HCLTech in understanding and appreciating the legacy, strategy, and potential of the CTG business.

As part of the agreement, approximately 1,500 CTG employees with telecommunications industry experience will join HCLTech in various countries to serve clients globally. The move aims to enhance HCLTech’s capabilities in delivering innovative solutions and services to its telecommunications clients.

Overall, the strategic partnership between HCLTech and HPE signifies a significant step towards enhancing their respective positions in the telecommunications market, leveraging on each other’s strengths to drive innovation, offer integrated solutions, and deliver transformative services.
