Gujarat government enters into agreements with IBM, Microsoft, and NASSCOM to foster AI development

The Gujarat government has signed MoUs with software giants IBM and Microsoft as well as with NASSCOM to promote the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in the state. IBM and the Department of Science and Technology have agreed to establish an ‘AI Cluster’ at GIFT City to encourage innovation and collaboration among financial institutions. Meanwhile, Microsoft has partnered with the government to create an AI Center of Excellence at GIFT City focusing on machine learning, cognitive services, and bot services. Additionally, an MoU has been signed with NASSCOM to enhance AI capabilities in the state. The Chief Minister of Gujarat emphasized the importance of AI in keeping the state competitive in the industrial sector. By launching the Industry Ready Talent Training Programme under the IT and ITES policy, Gujarat aims to prepare a skilled workforce for emerging industries utilizing advanced technologies. IBM will provide its advanced AI platform and cloud infrastructure to help GIFT City fintech companies develop AI-based software solutions for the banking, financial services, and insurance sectors. Moreover, IBM will collaborate on creating AI curricula for state schools and universities. The program has invited expressions of interest from universities and course providers across the state to train students in deep technology. IBM, NVidia, AWS, TCS, and L&T Edutech have committed to offering courses under this initiative, with four state universities joining as aggregators. Gujarat aims to train 25,000 students in advanced technology courses over three years through these efforts.
