A Welsh presenter said quicker action from the UK government could have prevented more victims of Grok AI’s deepfake sex images.
Explicit images of Jess Davies were created using the chatbot and shared without her consent when the software was freely available to over half a billion users on X.
Davies has accused X owner Elon Musk of “monetizing image abuse” after the platform said last week that only paying users would now be able to access Grok AI’s image feature through its website.
The UK government said a new law would come into force this week to make such AI-generated images illegal, although the legislation has been ready since June 2025 after it was declared a “priority offence”.
