DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) – Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has banned state agencies from using TikTok, Chinese artificial intelligence company DeepSeek and other Chinese social media platforms.
The directive also prohibits the use of any of those platforms on all state-owned devices.
TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, removed the platform from app stores ahead of a law that would’ve banned the app in the U.S. on January 19.
