Google has introduced a new AI-powered feature called Gemini for managing emails in Gmail. This tool is now integrated into Gmail on the web and in the mobile app, offering assistance to Google Workspace customers with specific plans or add-ons. Previously, users had to join the Google Workspace lab to access AI features in Gmail, but now Gemini provides features such as summarizing emails, replying to messages, and finding specific details in emails and Google Drive files.

In Gmail on the web, Gemini appears in a left sidebar next to emails, while in the mobile app, it appears in a small window when tapping on a message. The tool offers suggestions for tasks such as summarizing emails, listing action items, and suggesting responses. Users can also ask Gemini questions directly, such as retrieving information about expenses or upcoming meetings. Gemini 1.5 Pro, the latest AI model from Google, offers improved performance and understanding with the ability to handle up to 1 million tokens.

The rollout of Gemini integration in Gmail has already begun, with quick release schedule users seeing it in the coming days, while scheduled release users will get it by July 8th. Mobile app users can expect Gemini within the next 15 days. Overall, Gemini aims to enhance email management and productivity by leveraging AI capabilities within the Gmail platform.
