Google’s cloud unit taps into Arm-based chips, increasing pressure from Intel and AMD

July 13 (Reuters) – Alphabet Inc (GOOGL.O) The Google Cloud unit announced on Wednesday that it will begin rolling out computer chips based on Arm Ltd technology, becoming the latest company to join a transition that Intel Corp (INTC.O) and advanced micro devices (AMD.O).

Arm, the British chip company that has announced it will take over after a mega deal made by Nvidia Corp. to be taken over, to go public (NVDA.O) flunked earlier this year, has long supplied designs and other intellectual property that powers chips for smartphones and tablets. In 2018, Arm began offering technology for chips used in data centers, a market dominated by Intel and AMD.
