Google’s AI search results make links more obvious

Google says it will now display links more prominently in its AI-powered features in search. Robby Stein, the vice president of Google Search, announced Tuesday that a list of links will now appear in a pop-up when you hover over sources in AI Overviews and AI Mode on desktop, along with a description of each linked article and accompanying images.

Stein adds that Google will also display these “more meaningful and eye-catching link icons” in its AI responses on desktop and mobile. “Our testing shows that this new interface is more engaging and makes it easier to access great content across the web,” writes Stein.
