The individual user profiles that were expected on Google TV last month have been delayed, so that these personalized content recommendations are unfortunately suspended.

The company had initially said the new user profiles would hit Google TV last month, but Google spokeswoman Ivy Hunt says The edge today that the profiles will now be rolled out “in the coming months”. News of the delay was reported earlier from 9to5Google.

That’s a bit of a shame for multi-user households that look forward to profile features like custom bookmarks, personalized help from the Google Assistant, and sorting out the content interests of others who use the same device (e.g. roommates, kids, etc.). although google previously introduced Children’s profiles at the beginning of the year). Having to share a single experience with multiple users is a bit like handing over your Netflix algorithm. Not ideal!

Google has not given a reason for the delay, but the TV experience will give us personalized user profiles early in the new year.
