Google TV adds 10 new free streaming channels to its lineup

Google TV has expanded its curated collection of Free Ad-Supported Television (FAST) channels to over 130 channels. The new additions include channels such as FilmRise Western, ION+, and Noticias Telemundo Ahora. Google TV Network now allows advertisers to target viewers on Google TV devices and smart TVs with ads.

Last year, Google introduced FAST channels for Google TV, offering free access to channels like Reuters Now and BBC Earth without the need to register or download separate apps. With the recent update in June 2024, Google has added 10 new channels to the selection, bringing the total to over 130. The new channels include West movie, Johnny Carson TV, Telemundo News Now, and more.

Google now offers 135 free channels within Google TV, up from 80 when the catalog first launched. To access the new channels, users can go to the Live tab on Google TV and find them under the Free integrated channels section. Google has hinted at adding more channels in the future to enhance the user experience.

In addition to expanding its channel offerings, Google recently launched the Google TV Network. This platform allows brands to target viewers on Google TV devices and smart TVs with different types of ads, including six-second bumper ads and unskippable ads on the 135 FAST channels. Google is also exploring new ad formats like immersive ads, which are already being tested by companies like Disney and Main video.

As Google’s free TV channels generate advertising revenue, users can expect the channel list to continue growing significantly in the coming years. A full list of selected Google TV channels can be found on their Support page. With the addition of new channels and advertising opportunities, Google TV aims to provide users with a diverse selection of content while offering brands a platform to reach targeted audiences effectively.
