The Internet of Secure Things Alliance, an IoT security certification authority (also known as) ioXt) introduced a new security certification for mobile apps and VPNs.
The new ioXt compliance program Contains a “profile for mobile applications” – a series of security-relevant criteria against which apps can be certified. The evaluation of the profile or the mobile app contains additional requirements for VPN applications (Virtual Private Network).
Google and Amazon were involved in designing the criteria, as were a number of certified laboratories such as NCC Group and Dekra, as well as providers of security tests for mobile apps such as NowSecure. Google’s VPN within the Google One service is one of the first to be certified according to the criteria.
