Google solves leaks by “leaking” Pixel 7, Pixel Watch, Pixel Tablet, but there’s one more thing!

Not only has Google unveiled some long-awaited products like the Pixel Buds Pro, which I’m assuming is meant to fill the role of Apple’s AirPods Pro in the Android world, but we also finally have the first A-series phone, the Google Pixel 6A, which sports Google’s new design and branding identity and looks just as iconic as the Pixel 6 that was released in late 2021. These were the “instant” releases – products that people will soon be able to buy. Although the launch frame for them is late June, I’m not sure how soon that will be…

Google Pixel 7 & Pixel 7 Pro: Five months earlier

Then… the crowd pulled out their phones and started taking pictures of… the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro because they were on the screen. They have been unveiled for all to see! As it turns out, the early announcement of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro for 2021 was no exception to the rule for Google.

The thing is, the Pixel 6 pre-announcement came after a series (and by “series” I mean a whole one season) leaked by OnLeaks and Jon Prosser in the months leading up to the official reveal. Additionally, the pre-announcement of the Pixel 6 came in August — two months ahead of the phones’ launch.

While we’ve certainly had our fair share of Google Pixel 7 leaks this year, they haven’t been that detailed, assuming there won’t be much new about the Pixel 7 series compared to the current Google flagships. Anyhow, the point is that the Pixel 7 wasn’t leaked as heavily as the Pixel 6.

Also, this time, Google’s pre-announcement takes place in early May, which is almost half a year away from the expected debut of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro in mid-October.

Google Pixel Watch: it’s GD time…

Then the super-hyper-ultra-long-awaited and pixel clock followed. As you may know, this one has already been “fully revealed”. Redditthanks to the fact that Google employees reportedly managed to leave it in a Chicago bar.

Anyway, the Google Pixel Watch will be released in October alongside the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, so another five months await those who might want to get their hands on it. Until then, try out your local beer gardens. Who knows!

Google Pixel tablet: Twenty twenty three

And then there was the announcement of the Pixel tablet.

First of all, absolutely nobody saw this coming – the media was not informed about it; We’ve never seen it in any leaks, and quite frankly… It’s almost as if Android fans have already lost all hope of a new, bigger Google-made slab after the Nexus tablet was retired in 2014. Also, Google essentially said that the company will exit the tablet business in 2019. Well no.

The strangest thing about this announcement was that the Pixel tablet isn’t supposed to be a late release, like October or later this year. It’s actually a 2023 release that had to be announced now for some reason. From left field.

It’s almost guaranteed that the Pixel tablet won’t see the light of day until May 2023 or even October 2023, as Google doesn’t usually hold events earlier. That means we’ll likely have to wait a full year, or even a year and a half to see the new Google-made tablet that’s out now teasing At this point. Totally out of left field.

Why does Google announce its phones, watches and tablets months or even years in advance?

While I’m sure this could be explained by a change in Google’s product marketing strategy, we can’t ignore the elephant in the room. Google devices lick left and right.

As already mentioned, we have already seen in detail real photos of the pixel watch, which has even been compared to the Apple Watch. Also, thanks to Jon Prosser at Front Page Tech, we knew this one was coming over a year ago leaked it in April 2021 along with the Pixel 6, which itself got into the hands of a Nigerian who tested the Pixel 6 pre-production unit and took sample photos and videos with it and shared them on YouTube.

Will Google’s Leak Prevention Plan Work?

Still, we haven’t seen a virtually complete hands-on preview of the latest Samsung or Apple devices – something we can’t say about the Pixel Watch and Pixel 6. So maybe Google is saying, “We take control of leaks by…leaking our own products.” But what I’m not so sure about is whether this will play in Google’s favor…

For example, I own a Pixel 6 Pro and after seeing the now-confirmed Pixel 7 Pro design, I can now confidently say that I won’t be looking for an upgrade. On the contrary, when the Pixel 6 Pro was leaked by multiple sources in 2021 and we all loved the new design and rode the hype train, I bought it. It worked. I pre-ordered the phone and later regretted it because this one came with a ton of bugs.

One more thing: Google didn’t show everything at I/O

Anyway, I don’t know if you noticed, but a long-awaited product wasn’t unveiled during Google I/O! Of course, this is the alleged Pixel Notepad/Pixel Fold, Google’s first foldable phone. That’s debatable as this one hasn’t been leaked yet, but it’s certainly been heavily rumoured.

My educated guess is that if Google actually intends to launch the Pixel Notepad alongside the Pixel 7 series in October, the company is poised to do so risk in the name of surpriseknowing that the foldable phone could leak at any time. If the company’s first foldable phone wasn’t perfect Just one thing during the October event? Yes it would! While it’s a Cupertino tradition, it won’t come as a surprise if he’s loaned out by Mountain View this year. Apple doesn’t seem to have anything as special as a foldable phone in the pipeline right now, so why not let Google shine in the spotlight!

Oh, and have you seen Google’s AR glasses prototype and how they can translate speech with live captions in real-time?!

I won’t count this as an “early announcement” as it wasn’t really an announcement and because Google Glass (or whatever Google likes to call the glasses) is certainly years away from becoming official. But, man… it was demo impressive!

When asked if Google’s tablet could be a foldable tablet, Rick Osterloh, Alphabet’s senior VP of devices and services, responded called: “Oh… ah… you know… We just showed a little bit of one prototype of what we are building today, namely a standard tablet. Next year there will be a lot more detail when it comes to the market.” He smiled nervously!!!
