Google routes runners into AI Mode with training plans and playlists

Google published a consumer guide on September 10, 2026 directing runners preparing for races toward three artificial intelligence features inside Search, folding training-plan creation, music curation, and gear shopping into the same AI Mode surface it has spent eighteen months monetizing.

In Short

Google wrote a how-to post telling people getting ready for a running race to use three of its AI Search tools: one that builds a training schedule, one that makes a workout playlist, and one that helps you shop for shoes and gear. It matters because each of those tools sits inside AI Mode, the conversational search surface Google now shows ads in, so the running guide is also a way to pull more people into a screen that increasingly carries sponsored results. What changes for marketers is that race season demand, which Google says is spiking, now flows through a surface where product visibility depends on feed data rather than a simple keyword bid.
