WASHINGTON — Google is rolling out a long-awaited feature that will finally allow people to change their Gmail addresses.
Those who have been tied to embarrassing email addresses they used when they were younger may feel relief with the change, but they will have to wait a while.
The rollout appears to be limited to India or Hindi-speaking markets for now, as it’s shown on the Hindi support page for Google accounts.
The change will let users replace their existing Gmail address with a new one, while preserving the data and services. The Hindi version of the support page said the feature will be “gradually rolling out to all users,” possibly hinting at a global rollout soon.
