Google recently detailed in its support forums that users are seeing a big change Google Play Movies & TV on selected platforms, especially those that use the service on smart TVs from Roku, Samsung, LG and Vizio. As of June 15, this standalone app will no longer be displayed. Oh oh.
But don’t be afraid, because on Google you can find your movies and shows in the official YouTube app. “Simply log into the YouTube app with your Google account and you will have access to all of your previous purchases and you can browse, buy and rent new content.”
There is a whole list of things that it seems you need to know.
All of your previous purchases will be available on YouTube.
Your Google Play credits can be used on YouTube to make purchases.
Purchases from the Play Family Library can be viewed on YouTube, but purchases on YouTube do not support family sharing. Purchases from the Google Play Movies & TV website or app continue to support family sharing.
Your watchlist isn’t available on YouTube, but you can set up playlists.
It sounds bad, but it isn’t. Your things are being moved. Google likes to do this. It’s not always smooth, but that’s Google.
