Google Messages now supports more Android phones for integration with Google Gemini AI

Google Gemini is expanding its availability on Android phones through the Google Messages app, allowing users to chat with Gemini as they would with ChatGPT. Previously limited to select smartphones like Google Pixel 6, 7, and 8 or Samsung Galaxy S22 and later models, this feature is now accessible on any Android device with at least 6GB of RAM and RCS messages enabled. Additional criteria include signing in with a personal account, being 18 years or older, and living in a supported country with the phone’s language set to English or French in Canada. Once these requirements are met, users can interact with Gemini through Messages to compose messages, brainstorm plans, and ask questions. However, it is important to note that RCS chats with Gemini are not encrypted and may provide inaccurate information, as with all AI technologies. Users can access Gemini by pressing the Start Chat button in the Messages app and can continue conversations where they left off.
