This new feature, known as adaptive audio, is designed to address the challenges of finding a video conferencing room in a hybrid work environment. It allows users to join a meeting when traditional meeting rooms are unavailable or when there is no dedicated video conferencing equipment available. The feature can automatically detect multiple laptops in a room and synchronize microphones and speakers for a seamless audio experience.
The update will be rolled out to Google Workspace customers with specific plans, such as Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Business, Gemini Education, Gemini Education Premium, and the AI Meetings and Messaging add-on. It does not require any additional admin controls to work and will be enabled by default.
This latest update is part of Google Meet’s ongoing efforts to enhance the meeting experience. The platform recently introduced Companion Mode, a second screen tool for the Meet app on Android and iOS devices. This tool allows users to participate in meetings without opening a laptop, providing more flexibility for users who are on the go.
