Google Is Planning to Give Android Auto the Apple CarPlay Ultra Treatment with Open-Source Platform

• Google announced a new open-source operating system that it’s calling Android Automotive OS for Software-Defined Vehicles, as first reported by WardsAuto.
• Google said that the new system will standardize the software architecture for automakers, reducing complexity and allowing for more cohesion between systems.
• The tech giant said that it is working with automakers and other suppliers so that the system can be integrated seamlessly when it launches later this year.
