Google is planning to reorganize the Settings app in Android 15 to make it more user-friendly. The top-level settings page will be revamped to group similar menu items together in visually distinct sections, making it easier for users to navigate and find what they are looking for. Although this change is not yet visible in the latest Android 15 Beta 3 update, a leaked mockup gives us an idea of what the new layout will look like.

Currently, the top-level settings page in Android 14 lacks a clear organization, making it difficult for users to quickly find specific settings. The upcoming changes in Android 15 will place entries like Network and Internet, Connected devices, and Applications in cohesive sections for easier navigation. Additionally, the new layout will feature categories such as Account, Connectivity, Personalization, System Information, Security & Privacy, and Support, making it easier to locate specific settings.

In Android 15 Beta 3, while the top-level settings page redesign is not yet available, there have been some other minor changes to the Settings app. For example, the “Device and app notifications” entry has been renamed to “Read, reply to, and control notifications,” and “Screen power control” has replaced “Turn on screen” in the settings menu. Additionally, the description of the “Allow camera software extensions” option in the Security & Privacy settings has been updated to reflect changes in camera features.

It is important to note that certain entries like “Google” and “Digital Wellbeing and Parental Controls” are missing from the leaked mockup, as they currently do not appear in the top_level_settings XML file. These entries are injected into the Settings app by Google Play Services and Digital Wellbeing apps using a system-only API, so their final placement may vary.

Overall, the upcoming changes to the top-level settings page in Android 15 aim to streamline the user experience and make it easier to navigate through the various options available. With improved organization and categorization, users can expect a more intuitive and user-friendly Settings app in the next version of Android.
