The corporate simply introduced the launch of a brand new metric for app builders that retains an eye fixed on battery utilization. If a developer persistently runs afoul of Google’s battery utilization pointers, a warning will pop up within the Play Retailer to alert finish customers.
This metric will maintain a selected eye on so-called wake locks, which is when smartphones are prevented from coming into sleep mode by battery-hungry apps that need to run background processes when the display is off. Google says wake locks are a “heavy contributor to battery drain” and has developed a threshold for what’s deemed acceptable for apps operating within the background.
