Google Home now lets you delete pre-made routines, improves clip downloads on web

For the third update in a row, Google Home is improving automations. Google has a trio of new features and changes with the February 17, 2026 release notes.

Up first are “Pre-defined voice assistant actions” in the Google Home app’s automation editor under the Devices action type on smart speakers and displays:

  • Announce current time
  • Announce today’s weather
  • Ask what time to set an alarm
  • Play chime
  • Play music
  • Play news
  • Play podcast
  • Play radio
  • Play sleep sounds
  • Tell a joke

These pre-defined actions are “not yet supported” when using Ask Home or Help me create, while you can still use the Ask Google action for custom commands. Google says it is “continuing to expand support for home automation capabilities.” 

Meanwhile, Google now lets you delete pre-made routines like Good morning, Bedtime, and Workday. This gives you “more space to see all the custom automations you…
