Google Gemini: Generated PDFs, documents and slides can now be edited in the chat, no subscription needed.

Google’s Gemini app now has a built-in file editor. PDFs, documents, spreadsheets, slides and code that Gemini generates can be edited right in the chat, and free accounts get the feature too. Phones only support PDFs. We tried it and explain what you should keep out of these files.

Google has added a file editor to the Gemini app. Documents, PDFs, presentations, spreadsheets and code that Gemini generates in a chat can now be opened and changed inside the conversation. There is no need to download them and fix them in another program. Google announced the feature on October 29 and says it is “now available to all users in all languages where Gemini app is available.” No subscription is required. We tested it on November 1 with a free Google account in Germany, and the editor was already live in the web version.
