Google is accelerating Chrome’s release schedule amid rising browser competition. Once Version 153 of the browser launches this September, Google will produce updates every two weeks, doubling its release cadence.
Google says the web platform evolves quickly, making it necessary for developers and everyday users to receive updates sooner. Despite the faster cadence, the brand claims that more frequent improvements will improve browser stability. Meanwhile, Google’s Dev and Canary channels will maintain their current update timelines, as will the “Extended Stable” branch for enterprise users, as reported by Bleeping Computer.
While a Google spokesperson told TechCrunch that the increased release cadence isn’t AI-related, its timing says otherwise.
