Google confirms new data center development in Kansas City’s Northland

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Google confirms it is developing a new data center campus in Kansas City’s Northland, ending months of speculation.

The site is known as Project Mica, according to Google. It is located at 12701 N Arrowhead Tfwy, which is northeast of Interstate 435 and U.S. 169 Highway.

“We have been proud to call Missouri home since we broke ground on our first data center campus in the state in 2024, which is still under construction. We’re thrilled to confirm we are continuing our growth with another data center campus in Kansas City. This infrastructure will support economic growth for the area, power Google services that Missourians and local businesses use daily, and drive scientific breakthroughs that directly impact our communities,” Trystine Payfer, Google Regional Head of Data Center Public Affairs. said.

The company is working with Evergy during the project. Google said it will cover the full energy costs associated with powering the data center.
