Google Cloud customers and partners rate CEO Thomas Kurian


The Home Depot began working with Google Cloud in 2016 when it decided to migrate its on-premises e-commerce site to the cloud. Two years later, it moved its legacy data warehouse to the cloud provider’s BigQuery. During those years, the company experienced firsthand the “growing pains” that come with being an early Google Cloud adopter.

“What I remember most notably is their approach to terms of business and customer retention practices,” said Daniel Grider, the chain’s vice president of technology and head of infrastructure and operations. “They just weren’t adaptable to enterprise customers like The Home Depot.”

Fast forward to 2022, and Grider cited a “dramatic” change for the better after Thomas Kurian’s three-and-a-half years as CEO of Google Cloud, which today remains the company’s cloud provider of choice as it continues to migrate workloads from its “legacy debt” accumulated over decades to the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
