Google Calendar will soon be compatible with Outlook and other third-party calendars for seamless syncing.

Google has launched a beta program to enhance the synchronization of Google Calendar with third-party calendar services like Outlook, in response to customer feedback on reliability issues and excessive email notifications. The update improves event syncing accuracy, ensuring changes made in Google Calendar are reflected in linked third-party calendars automatically. This eliminates manual updates and minimizes confusion or missed appointments.

Additionally, the update addresses email clutter by clearly marking sync-related notifications in emails and sending them from a separate identifiable email address. Users can set up inbox filters to manage these notifications, with specific options available for Outlook users to filter emails individually or at the system level using Microsoft’s Powershell. The beta program is open to all Google Workspace customers until July 10, 2024, with interested administrators able to sign up via the provided form.

By improving synchronization with third-party calendars, Google aims to seamlessly integrate its products with users’ existing tools, promoting a collaborative environment where schedules can be easily shared across different platforms. The streamlined sync process and reduced email clutter are expected to enhance productivity and time management for users managing multiple calendars.
