Google announces major change to the way you use Gmail

Google has announced a big change to Gmail, prompting the email service’s three billion users to make a decision about how they want to use the platform.

The company said they are launching a series of AI tools that will help users summarize conversations, draft entire emails from scratch and filter important messages to the top of the inbox. Gmail users will be able to choose whether to turn the filters on or off, for those who prefer the traditional service.

The first major tool available is the “AI Overview” feature. Similar to the overview already prevalent in the Google search engine, the tool will give users summaries for whatever information they want synthesized out of their inbox. It can summarize email chains with dozens of replies or search the inbox for specific information.

The conversation summary tool is already available to all users for free while the search tool is available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.
