Cloud providers and large carriers continue to partner to take advantage of 5G networks to expand the reach of cloud services – even to the very edge – in a trend that is likely to result in broad partnerships between most of them Company will develop.

Most recently Verizon and Google cloud announced a collaboration to bring Google Cloud’s compute and storage services to mobile and connected devices on the edge of the Verizon network. The plan is to leverage the higher speeds, lower latencies and greater capacity that 5G networks offer over 4G and LTE networks to support emerging business areas such as autonomous mobile robots, intelligent logistics and factory automation.

The two will combine Verizon’s private on-site 5G and private 5G edge networks with Google Cloud’s Distributed Cloud Edge to increase productivity, security and efficiency for a wide range of businesses in a variety of markets, from retail to production.
