More and more users are discovering Google Ads embedded directly into the results of Google’s AI mode, a sign that Google’s months-long test is slowly gaining momentum.
What we see. Google confirmed AI mode ad testing on desktop back in May, but sightings have skyrocketed recently:
- Greg Sterling shared a screenshot of an HVAC repair request and said it was the first AI mode ad he had seen in the wild.
- Brodie Clark repeated the behavior shortly after, noting that “the time has come” as he shared several screenshots of ads in generated replies.
Why it matters to us. Ads running in AI mode mark a major shift in the way Google combines sponsored content with AI-generated responses. The change could alter visibility, click-through rates and the overall search experience. Early adopters could benefit from less competition, new formats and greater engagement.
