Google accuses North Korean hackers of sending malicious files to cybersecurity researchers in a month-long attack that built trust through a blog and friendly Twitter conversations.

North Korean hackers posed as researchers and ran a blog with original content about vulnerabilities, according to a report released Monday by Google’s Threat Analyst Group. The hackers distributed their articles and chatted with other researchers on Twitter, started conversations on other platforms and invited security experts to collaborate. When the researchers accepted their offer, the hackers sent files infected with malware.
