Recently, Gmail for Android and iOS has added a new feature for paid customers that allows them to summarize emails using the Gemini Side Panel. This new feature complements the existing AI feature, “Help me type,” which assists users in typing emails on their mobile devices. The Gemini-powered “Resume this email” button can now be found below the subject line in email threads with more than two replies. Users can provide feedback on the summarized emails by rating them with a thumbs up or thumbs down. This feature will be gradually rolled out in the coming weeks, along with other upcoming features such as Gmail Q&A and Contextual Smart Reply.

Additionally, the Gemini side panel is now available in Gmail web for users with 1.5 Pro, allowing them to perform various tasks such as summarizing email threads, suggesting replies, getting help with writing emails, and finding specific information in their inbox or Google Drive files. By tapping the Gemini glow icon in the top right corner, users can access “proactive messages” suggested by Gmail. These features are available for Gemini Business and Enterprise Plugin, Gemini Education and Education Premium Addon, as well as Google One AI Premium subscribers.
