“That request is routed from your device over a fiber optic cable to a data center, which is a large facility full of server racks with powerful processing chips. And here that request is processed and then sent back to your device at high speed.”
Bronwyn Cumbo is a lecturer in sustainable and inclusive AI futures at the University of Technology Sydney.
Speaking to SBS, she says more and more services are relying on data centers around the world.
