Gigabyte MS04-CE0 Intel Xeon 6 Motherboard Displayed

Spread the love

At Computex 2024, Gigabyte unveiled its new Intel Xeon 6 motherboard, the Gigabyte MS04-CE0. This motherboard is designed for the LGA4710-SP parts of the Xeon 6 line of processors, offering compact integration despite its advanced features. The single-socket design with one DIMM per channel allows the motherboard to fit into a standard ATX form factor, making it smaller than many EATX motherboards.

The Gigabyte MS04-CE0 motherboard supports four PCIe Gen5 x16 slots and one x8 x16 electrical slot, along with two M.2 PCIe Gen5 x2 slots. It also features lower speed Intel i210-AT 1GbE networks for connectivity.

Notably, the motherboard includes two PCIe Gen3 x2 SATA host controllers, each managing six SATA III lanes. These twelve SATA ports are connected to three SlimSAS x4 ports, offering a unique SATA configuration compared to previous generations. Instead of a traditional PCH with features like the BMC ASPEED AST2600 for LAN management and SATA connectivity, the Xeon 6 motherboard has a different design due to the absence of a PCH.

In conclusion, the Gigabyte MS04-CE0 Intel Xeon 6 motherboard presents a compelling option for those looking to consolidate servers and reduce power consumption. With the potential for lower core count Xeon 6 parts to offer solid performance at a lower cost, this motherboard provides a versatile solution for various server needs. Users can also benefit from the ability to consolidate multiple Xeon E5 V4 and older servers onto a single socket node, leading to significant efficiency gains.
