Getting Started with VMWare Workstation Pro: A Guide for Beginners

Broadcom recently changed the licensing terms of their VMware Workstation Pro, making it available for non-commercial use. This hypervisor allows users to create, deploy, and manage virtual machines within their existing operating system. To set up Workstation Pro, users must enable virtualization in their BIOS and follow a detailed installation process to access the setup.exe file. Once installed, users can easily create virtual machines by selecting the desired operating system ISO file and configuring the VM parameters. Workstation Pro allows users to experiment with different operating systems and create periodic snapshots for backup. However, as a Type 2 hypervisor, performance may be limited when running heavy workloads. For more power, users may consider Proxmox or a dual-boot setup.
