Artificial intelligence is set to be mainstreamed across the Australian public service as the federal government looks to unlock the technology’s full potential to help run the country.
Every government agency will have an SES-level Chief AI Officer by July next year; A new team will be formed within the finance department to manage the rollout of AI across the service. and government contractors will need to become knowledgeable about AI to comply with new rules.
AI will be used across all areas of government, with the launch of a dedicated AI chatbot accessible to all staff, and training on how to use the technology will be made mandatory.
