The use of generative artificial intelligence technology is already widespread in K-12 schools and higher education. Now, AI technologies like conversational agents and tablet-based assessments are starting to make their way into early childhood education.
One concern with AI in preschool is that the technology will replace or destroy the rich interactions and deep relational bonds between children and their caregivers. Another concern is that AI systems reproduce discrimination based on race, gender and socioeconomic status, which could reinforce stereotypes and prejudices.
What if this technology was instead used to make marginalized voices heard rather than silence them?
